This generation has been underwhelming Discussion

I bought a Series X at launch, and can’t think of a single game that has impressed me this gen. I’m a big Halo fan, and Halo Infinite felt like a letdown. I’m a Forza fan, and Forza Motorsport felt like a massive disappointment. I was exited for Starfield, but was underwhelmed after playing it.

It just feels like we’ve had no heavy hitters this gen, even 3rd party AAA games have been average at best. I guess the only hope I have left is with Gears 6, but aside from that, Microsoft needs to get their act together and start releasing some new games. It feels like games are taking way too long to make these days, we used to get bangers every year in the 360 gen. Even the Xbox One had more compelling games than what we have now

The smaller titles have been doing well. Things like Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment. I'll admit, there haven't been many system-seller titles this generation so far.

I'm just patiently waiting for Fable, personally. I've been a huge fan of that franchise since Fable: TLC.

Gears 6 I'm cautiously optimistic for, but I really didn't enjoy the "open-world" sections of Gears 5 all that much. I'm not a sim fan so Flight Simulator was lost on me.

Avowed is coming out soon, so fingers crossed that'll be great. I haven't been getting a lot of use out of my Game Pass sub for 1st party titles.

Pentiment was really good.

Hellblade 2 comes out next month and I’m so hyped. I think that will be the first true “next gen” game we get on Xbox.

I have absolutely zero faith in the new Fable after it’s been in such a weird long development cycle with such little information. That’s almost never a good thing.

Playground doesn't show anything really ever it's normal for them.

You mean until the games are nearly finished? Even then, that’s fine for the Forza games when everyone knows what to expect and its number 7 in a series. I don’t think that works as well for something like Fable that has a lot of questions surrounding it.

If its not ready to show then don't show anything. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. But in concerned as well.

Yeah but whk the fuck cares about "hifi rush" or "pentiment" when the guys on PS are getting spiderman, god of war, silent hill and final fantasy?

As someone who owns both consoles, I can confirm I've put way more hours in on my PS5 than my Series X. The only semi-new release I've played on Xbox is MSFS and only because it's a training supplement.

Hi Fi rush was a delight.

Avowed and the ability to play older xbox games are the only reason I own a series x

If you are excited for Avowed, check out Pillars of Eternity 1&2. Yes they are CRPG but they are in the same universe as Avowed. Both are available on Games Pass.
