Playing it after finishing Baldur's Gate 3 was absolutely brutal.

Starfield is not a terrible game, but it felt so dated compared to BG3. I couldn't care less about the characters in Starfield - they're all so forgettable.

BG3 is not even remotely a similar game though, I played both and don’t see where the comparisons come in, other than they both call themselves “RPGs”

BG3 is a tightly-scripted D&D campaign, not a freeform sandbox, it’s like complaining about BG3’s poor gunplay and lack of zero-gravity moments

They are both games that have dialogue and voice acting. One of those games did a phenomenal job and the other did a dreadful job. I think it’s fair to compare two games from the same year against each other even if they vary in some ways. Also it’s crazy because I feel like there is much more meaningful freedom of choice in BG3 than Starfield anyway. Starfield is a mile wide but an inch deep.

Dated! That’s exactly it! I couldn’t put my finger on it though.

hell you could boot up baldurs gate 2 from forever ago and it would still make starfield feel like a super dated RPG
