Only reason I haven’t played yet is because it isn’t 60 fps.

I don't really care at all about starfield, but is 60 really that important to you? 30 has been the standard my whole life

After having my xsx for like 2 years , yes it is. Especially when it’s starfield on the box that boasts about 4k 120fps but the game can’t even do 60. I’m not complaining though I’ll gladly wait till it has 60 to play it.

Edit* are you sure about 30 your whole life ? A lot of older handhelds and consoles ran 60.

Man you are so fucked. Both XBSX and pS5 will get stuck with a shitload of 30 FPS games, especially as hyper-realistic UE5 games release.

A lot of older handhelds and consoles ran 60.

Last console generation to give 60 FPS as standard was gen 5 - the one with N64/Saturn/pS1. From gen 6 onwards 30 FPS became the rule once the cross-gen period ends so yeah, that's 20+ years and running.

Idk man I’ve had gameboy , game cube , and ps2 games that can run 60. Its not like I noticed the difference back than but I do now.

This isn't inconsistent with what I argued. After all, "I've had" gen 8, 7 and 6 consoles that "can run 60".

Racers and shooters and indies are 60 even late into a gen and those were probably the games you recall - if you even cared about framerate back then, few of us console players did. Most AAA heavy-hitters are stuck at 30 eventually.

On the GameBoy: mate that's a portable SNES, of course it runs in 60. Try pSP/DS/3DS/Vita, lol.

Yup you are right and when those heavy hitters came and the frames dropped I gave no fucks because shit looked so awesome. These days I’m pretty spoiled and anything under 60 makes me brain hurt.

Even the greatest most nexest gen game ever made Alan Wake 2 has a performance mode. Garbage games gonna garbage, stop enabling their crappy developers.

Alan Wake 2 is a first-person horror game with tons of enclosed spaces, 99% of the gameplay is heavily scripted, and we aren't even halfway through the generation - the XBSX/pS5 power hasn't been fully pushed yet.

I gladly attack lazy devs but don't joke yourself kid, console gens always devolve into 30 FPS. Get used to the idea...

But is bread really important to you? I've been eating rocks my whole life.

That's you

It's like you're willfully ignoring gemstones because you found soil on them. Probably not the best analogy, but obviously you don't respect quality products, just fidelity.

That's you.

It shouldn't be a standard anymore. The 360 and ps3 should have been the final consoles stuck on 30 fps. It's really really hard to go back to 30 once you hit 60 and above

It can be jarring to go back to 30 if you've been playing a 60 game, I'll give you that. But it's far from a deal breaker.

I can still appreciate a good game at 30fps.

Same here. I had it pre-installed but by the time it launched I had heard it was 30fps only and I uninstalled without ever launching it. Thankfully I hadn't paid for it because of Gamepass.
