Young Bull has some serious highlights in Book 4

No one can convince Two Rivers folk to do something they don’t want to do. Their stubbornness level is off the charts. It’s impossible.
Perrin: hold my tankard of ale.

Hold my crumpled snifter of brandy cup, it’s time to get down to business.

Perrin loses so much more than everyone else and it isn't even close.

IMO what makes it more impactful is that it’s offscreen (for lack of a better expression) but the way his POV is written you feel his pain. It’s also one of those moments that hits hard if you’ve lost family yourself.

I haven't lost any close family (yet), and reading this section hit me like a truck.

i have, and it was an incredible scene. I loved Faile for it too.

I am not dead! I deserve death, but I am ALIVE! ALIVE! ALIVE!

It's also so informative of why he reacts so strongly to Faile stuff. He basically trains himself to never think of his dead family and channels (heheh) all that into his love and concern for his wife.

That’s a great observation that I’m not sure everyone picks up on. Perhaps they do but the slog wears them down, but it becomes his driving motivation going forward. Part of his leadership arc is learning he can’t just worry about her to the detriment of everyone else around him. That said IMO it’s understandable why he is so utterly focused on her for a while. It’s his personality, and he literally lost all of his family.

That's the trick: You figure out what they want to do, and fit what you want within that framework.

As I am yet to finish the series I shall not be participating in comments, I hope you enjoy any conversation that occurs however

Young pup, you understand that you are here too strongly but still you tread these dangerous waters.

Book 4 is one of my favourites of the whole series. So many things happen and the characters have fantastic arcs.

Truth. The best of Perrin until like book 12. The Aiel Waste kicks off so many plots and character development. Getting more of the Aiel culture in general.

Saving the Two Rivers from whitecloaks, shadowspawn, Fain and Slayer, marrying Faile AND spanking her in front of Loial and the Aiel? Best story ever.

Quite possibly my favourite single book storyline.

Any time Perrin and Gaul are together is my favorite moment. Gaul is the best bro of all best bros in the series.

Let’s not forget Loial. He grabbed best bro like a sack of potatoes and out ran a fist of trollocs coming back from sealing the Ways. He sang to the orchard where Perrin’s family was buried too. After being the first ogier in who knows how long to pick up a weapon and remind the world that an ogier is only laid back until his ears are.

I totally agree, his story arc is so densely packed and fast-paced. That arc alone cemented him as a fave character for me. RJ did an incredible job.

It has all the feels. Just extremely affecting writing in a way the series had not managed until this point.

Maybe Perrin is the dragon reborn?
I hate the show.

The Wheel of Time and the wheel of a man's life turn alike without pity or mercy.

IDK everyone shits on his story, >! I think it was late but, the forging of Mah'Alleinir got me quite emotional and I thoroughly enjoyed him going super Saiyan with the shifting/wolf dream at the end !<

It’s the middle part of his arc (adventures in Altara) that’s boring, mostly because it’s the same narrative arc as before but slower and with less personal stakes (aside from the kidnapping it’s all just work for strangers)

Perrin is a boss, the entire time. But he does wish he could talk to women as well as Mat. Or, light take him, even Rand.

The dead watch. The dead never close their eyes.

Perrin was by far my favorite up until he was wandering around in circles for like 3 books.
Edit: I meant wandering. Stupid autocorrect, my fault for not rereading my 15 word comment

even then at least the problem was less about Perrin himself. RJ just felt the odd need to do things like devote multiple chapters to buying and sifting grain, when a paragraph or two at most was all that was needed.

Two books, maybe. In LoC he was lording in a straight fucking line to Shadowkiller and the Creator help anyone who stood between him and Rand.

Never prod at a woman unless you must. She will kill you faster than a man and for less reason, even if she weeps over it after.

Shadow Rising solidified Perrin as my favorite of the Ta'veren, amazing start to his story arc, it's just a pity he got pushed to the side for so long in the middle portion of the series, leaving us with the rushed (though not unsatisfying, IMO) conclusion in Towers of Midnight.

Perrin had a fantastic storyline in Shadow Rising, an all around amazing book. One of my favorites in the series, partly because it’s where the world really opens up.
Is that Christian Bale? What’s the meme format source?

American Psycho. Aye, it do be Bale…wait, yes it is Christian Bale. Sorry, wrong Bayle.

Yea Perrin was so sick in this book. Probably has tons of highlights in the next six books too
