Notice how in the show, the mechanisms for dismantling the US government and establishing the soon to be Republic of Gilead were all done behind closed doors and in the shadows; but here, there's recruitment videos and podcasts meant to tease what they have planned.

And no one seems to care. At least not the mainstream media, who have all but dismissed Dump as washed up and benign.

Yet, he's got some of his followers already out and ready to call for blood in the streets if he loses - and probably if he wins.

Once season 6 finally airs, this country may be a distinctly different place to live and be more akin to season 1's fictional world of chaos.

Oliver said in the video that while Trump’s first term seemed chaotic, what’s scarier is this second term could most definitely be efficient and organized as we can see already with Project 2025 and it’s clearcut goals. They’re taking advantage of the fact that so many people are desensitized or dismissive AGAIN, and using it to create tactical plans that will be implemented right in front of us. They’re literally being so blatant about it, esp John McEntee, who many are seeing will be in Trump’s cabinet, being a casual white supremacist…like? The biggest message is for people like you and me and whoever watched it to try to get people to care. I posted the vid in this sub bc I know you guys will take it seriously. Let’s at least try ! I am cynical and bitter to a fault but this video really brought their agenda to my attention, enough to really frighten me.

I instinctively cover my drink with my hand when I see John McEntee's face appear on any type of screen.

There really needs to be a campaign to encourage the 18-25 crowd to vote for Biden. I've heard of a lot of pushback that they hate both Biden and Trump and are planning on voting for someone else or not vote at all. They don't have the life experience to understand that even though the term is 4 years, the damage a 2nd Trump presidency will cause will set us back for years and years (including further damage to the Supreme Court). I understand what the young people are saying but now is not the time!!

I am 24, and I agree. We are so disenchanted and numb to a lot, and to be fair I think we do understand the damage but we are also so passive about it because we feel we can’t do anything/are not heard. A lot of us are already aware of how f’d up the world/government/US is, but we’re just mentally exhausted by social media/entertainment/news/information that it disempowers us. I and a lot of people my age just dont believe the government is effective anyway but I understand that despite the ideal of not being here, we are in fact here, and that means whatever the future administration decides to do will affect us. I mean I only JUST started feeling compelled to persuade/talk to others about voting against him just because of this video. Love John Oliver for that btw, he and his writers used that platform and it definitely reached his target audience (genZ/millenials). In my view, we HAVE to vote. It’s non negotiable, because he has white supremacists, violent people actively crafting violent laws that would shut down any voice, and turn the US into a total autocracy.

Gen X here and I love John Oliver too! I agree with everything you said. 4 years of Biden won't fix the issues we have (which, IMO are really due to capitalism and greed) but not voting for Biden will make the problems we have seem really trivial. Suddenly struggling to buy groceries won't seem so bad in a 2nd Trump era.

On a tangent topic, I do think the young adults have the best chance of changing us for the better. I've learned so much watching you all and your attitudes towards work and career/life balancing. I know that it's stemming from basically growing up knowing you won't have the "American dream" so you aren't going to be cogs in the corporate factory but I do think its the best shot we have at fixing a very broken America - BUT WE HAVE TO SURVIVE THE NEXT FOUR YEARS TO GET THERE. Hang in there :) Please vote and encourage your friends to vote. The boomers are dying off and will be extinct very soon.

I appreciate your comment, seriously ! :) You’re spot on about it & I really appreciate your sentiment about young adults having the chance to change things for the better. It’s very hopeful, which is very lost on a lot of people’s instagram/tiktok feeds. Full of distraction & overconsumption, which is very telling isn’t it. I dont have social media anymore bc of this but I’m telling my friends who do to post the video up to reach more people! I urge anyone else reading this to do the same ! We have to curb the “white Christian nationalists”—seriously thats what they call themselves—from gaining that power. Already Louisiana just made it mandatory for ALL public schools to display the 10 commandments (k-12 and public universities). thanks EuphoricMoose. I lowkey needed that hopefulness😭

I'd rather have a disheveled old man who cares about democracy than a disheveled old man who will make me want to move back to canada

Biden would've kept a lot more of the youth vote if he didn't bypass Congress to get Neyenyahu weapons

I won’t defend his actions there. But even with that very serious issue, he’s still the best alternative.

I loathe the fact we only have two options and truly wish we had more than two options each election but they aren't going to change that in an election like this one. We all tried that last time with Trump (with so many saying the voted for Trump or Hillary just because they didn't want the other to win rather than supporting the person and many others voting third party or not voting) and look how that worked out 😬🙄

Not sure if everyone watched the debate last night but my biggest issue with the moderators was that they did not ask about Project 2025. Why are they NOT asking Trump about it and putting him in the hot seat? Not that he would answer the question anyway since he deflected and lied his way through the whole debate. This is not being talked about enough and so many people have no clue Project 2025 is even a thing. To say I'm worried for the future of our democracy is an understatement.

I'm afraid we have already lost. Dump has put all his chickens all in a row, all is set up to contest this election also. I believe he's got enough people in place to steal it, even if Biden wins electoral and popular votes. Dump has pretty much run the past few years in the shadows, blocking Biden administration from accomplishing more. tRumphs nap in a 6 ft dirt bed, can't come soon enough.

I am so scared for our future. Schools are being forced to display the 10 Commandments in all classrooms and the Bible must be taught! Gilead is coming 😥

Wow. This country is split in half with each side entrenched in their own lunacy and bias. Country is doomed with either option. The empire has fallen - we’re just not totally aware of it yet. I feel hopeless and like I live in a 3rd world country now. We are all powerless and being played like fiddles. I should be retiring - I can barely buy groceries - I’ll have to work forever.

Oh yes, the "both sideisms" nonsense.

Hmm, one side has said they don't think everyone has a right to vote, women shouldn't have bodily autonomy and the world was better when women stayed at home and served their man, civil rights was an "overreach" by the courts, police should be able to murder people in the streets, government agencies that protect the public good should be abolished, people should be fleeced by student loans for the rest of their lives, companies and factories should be able to pollute the air and water without oversight, Christianity should be the formal religion of the country and dictate all government decisions, women and doctors should go to prison or have the death penalty if they help women make bodily choices even if to save their lives, birth control shouldn't be legal, climate change isn't real and nothing should be done about a planet literally on fire, science isn't real, LGBTQ+ shouldn't have any rights and parents shouldn't have the right to support and provide care for their transgender children, "enemies" of trump should face "judgment" (imagine that can't be good, now can it?), drilling and burning fossil fuels is better than clean energy and renewable energy should be done away with, taxes should be lower on people with the most, reduction of the already bareboned social benefits programs (like SNAP, Medicare, Medicaid), higher education should be monitored and censored based on conservative "values," deploying the military on DAY ONE of the inauguration of trump against the populace to prevent any protests and to find dissidents, firing nearly all federal workers to replace with loyalists (who don't even need to know the job they're taking, just pledge loyalty to trump), Edit: oh, and 9 year old girls should gleefully have the babies of their rapists...and a whole hell of a lot more, with conservatives from previous administrations stating out loud that project 2025 looks to place trump as dictator and dismantle democracy. But sure, you just keep up with that crap.

But really, you and I know...this schtick of bUt BoTh SiDeS aRe ThE SaME is just disinformation planting to discourage people from voting to ensure a win for trump.

DO NOT fall for this crap people. If any of you really care about democracy, there is no choice this fall. I'll hold my nose and vote for Biden and for democracy.

Yes, please hold your nose - and don’t let go. Ever.
