very excited seeing 4 rooks out there + roku if hes playing. i remember sl 2018 when mitch looked like a (foul prone) monster, hoping we see the same from hukporti

I’m admittedly coping in the #HokpurtiHive. I know it’s highlights in an inferior league, but dude looks good on tape. Big body at 7 feet. Looks athletic and spry for that height too. Looks comfortable in the pick and roll and seems to have some sort of offensive bag. Saw some defensive prowess too and his scouting report says he can get boards and block shots.

I know it’s cope, but I liked what I heard from him in interviews too. Been an international pro since he was 15. He’s 22 now and fully grown, so he should be similar to a 4-year college player in the sense that he could contribute right away - and we need backup bigs. So I’m definitely excited to see what we can offer for us.

Also excited to see what we got in Pacome and Kolek.

yeah definitely coping on hokpurti a little, but i feel his scouting report reads like a younger mitch, so thats part of why ive been a little in on him. definitely excited to see everyone, mccullar included, seems like a summer league of thibs guys and at least 1 is going to break rotation at some point this year, so might as well get the gist of what they can do now and have some fun

Summer league is late this year. Usually starts a week earlier, wonder they made that change.

“ with Kolek locked into a regular-season role with the big boys and perhaps McCullar too not long after the 2024-25 season tips off”

is the person who wrote this credible, or they just say shit?

No idea but I think SL will determine what we do with these guys. I think we all expect Kolek to make the main squad, but who knows about the other guys. Personally, I’m excited to see what we got in Pacome but given his age, he might need further development. If he looks promising, then I hope we ship him to Westchester rather than overseas. I feel like shipping guys overseas after you draft them is often a death sentence. You rarely see em again. Whereas with the G-League, it’s way easier to keep your eye on their development and throw them into the main squad should we need them or if they are looking really good.

I’m also super excited to see what we got in Hokpurti, which I wrote about a lot more in another reply.

For some reason, not as excited about Mccullar but I also don’t know as much about him so maybe he surprises me.

when you say “make the main squad”, do you mean sitting at the end of the bench, or do you mean in the rotation, backing up jb?

For Kolek, I think there’s a real chance he gets minutes backing up JB. Depends on our rotation and if Deuce is still with us. Without Deuce, I think there’s a clear path to Kolek getting minutes behind JB. Less clear with Deuce on the team just bc of Deuce’s solid production.

But as much as we all love Deuce, the rumors about maybe moving him make sense. With Mikal slotting into the main squad and DVo moving to the bench, Deuce is sort of expendable. He

if deuce is gone, then sure, kolek is clearly gonna get opportunities.

i still don’t understand why people here don’t think that deuce will improve as a playmaker. what do people think he’s going to work on this offseason? his toe injury might actually help him, because he will likely watch more film than he otherwise would have.

He’s a combo guard who is more of a scorer than a facilitator. He definitely can develop more play-making but it’s no guarantee.

why is it a “guarantee” that kolek’s offensive game will translate to the nba? why is it a “guarantee” that if his offense does translate, that he would be better on defense than kemba or fournier? i have more faith in deuce developing as a playmaker (g league games like 18 assists and 1 TO) than i do in kolek finding nba success as a rookie. i think kolek will be a great addition, but not until next year at the earliest.

These guys might have a role, but its probably occupying spots at the end of the bench and cheering.

It’s a blog, it’s their opinion

fair. i just think it would be very easy to state some things as opinions. the words “locked into a regular-season role” sound pretty definitive to me.

I expect Kolek to cook.
