They are so painfully aware of the animation they’ve given us this season that they blue balled us with that majestic frame of mark

Wasn’t that frame a reference to cory walker’s style?

It's both seasons, let's be real. I think the writing staff thinks the show's standard for animation is higher than it is. "We cut corners in some areas to improve the fight scenes" is funnier if the fight scenes are actually that much better and the corner cutting isn't so obvious. Odds are, though, you're getting more people mentioning the corner cutting than mentioning the fight scenes.

If you want crazy animated fight scenes go watch the shibuya arc of jujutsu kaisen. It’s literally an entire season of fights with minimal dialogue.

I’m anime-only so fellow jjk fans please no spoilers

And the animators were under such terrible working conditions they threatened to quit

Yep Japanese anime industry is facing a lot issues rn and commenters here are making it sound like you can bang out a show in like a year

If someone just wants well-animated fights you can't get better than demon slayer. JJK S2 did a lot of things really well, but tons of the later fights had scenes where you literally couldn't tell what was happening

Season 3 swordsmith village was pretty lacking imo

Edit: I’m guessing you’re talking about the Mahoraga(sp?) fight? That was like a few scenes in just one episode which i hear they cleaned up for the blu-ray release.

Lacking in terms of animation??

Not that fight in particular, most of the later ones I noticed had some issues.

Just overall. Pacing, choreography, plot.

Good point the writing staff has never seen the show before

If anyone goes back to the "Karma Police" intro from the first episode of this season, the first scene of it with Mark in it where he goes back to the impact of where his father crushed him into the mountain has animation quality that is *much* better than normal. I'm curious as to whether or not they'll be able to animate that quality in the future or not.

7

u/Anjunabeast Mar 29 '24

Yeah they can. They explained it in the episode. They cut corners to bank their resources for scenes they really want animated well.

I understood that whole segment this episode, but it’s more so that I have still not seen that quality of animation at all yet. Not in stills nor in fight scenes. It’s almost as if a different animator/studio was in charge of that scene alone, perhaps for trailer purposes.

Do you guys remember the trailer with Allen and Mark eating a burger at a restaurant? What the fuck happened to THAT animation

Imagine Invincible getting the same treatment the new X-Men animation is getting, it would be godly.

Agreed!
