So does this mean we won’t get season 3 for another year?

Not to be a dick about it but I feel you're setting yourself up for disappointment, quicker than the wait between season 1 and 2 isn't really a small window lmao. I'd love for it to come out this year, but more realistically it's gonna be at least early 2025.

They've told us that season 3 is "almost finished" and that was before season 2 even aired. It could be released earlier than we might expect.

I'm hopeful but highly suspicious of that. If S3 was that close to finished, that means they must've used resources on it that couldve been used to complete S2 quicker. I don't think they would've taken so long to put out S2 if they didn't have to. They definitely did the storyboarding and voice recordings ages ago but I doubt the animation is very far along. We got the same thing with Across and Beyond the Spiderverse where they claimed that Beyond was worked on alongside Across and would be out in a year, then animators leaked that it wasn't remotely true and now the movie is delayed.

I'm fine with long breaks in between seasons if it means better quality. Besides I have a huge list of other shows/movies I want to watch too.

my guess is they will do the split season again. so 4 episodws by the end of 2024 and the rest in march 2025. since they have been working on season 3 for a while now this should be possible no?

No way we get any more episodes in 2024. The story and voice work was probably done ages ago but I doubt much animation was done since that would've made S2 take longer which they didn't want. I'd say earlier we get S3 is Summer 2025.
