"Animation takes a long time"

(Hand over mouth) "Huh, I hadn't noticed that..."

I loved during mark and amber breaking up they only showed her mouth to show how important it was

I was thinking like "oh they're doing the opposite of the bit from the beginning" but I didn't consider it was till like show how important it is. Masterful stuff.

YES it’d be such a bizarre callback tonally in other shows but it worked so fucking well here

Same thing with the behind the back shots and stuff. They used a mirror to avoid it falling into the trap they had laid for themselves. I don't know if it was intentional, but I loved the way it felt like they were intentionally doing the opposite of the comicon scene.

That's where the joke should have ended. The meta joke was funny, but it went on for too long.

We get it, animation takes a while, but that still doesn't explain why we waited 2.5 years for 4 episodes while Fox has 5 animated shows that have 20 episode seasons every year

It really did go on for too long. It's funny but it felt like they thought it was really clever. I started groaning when they switched to example then example then another example and then just to drive it home they had mark say something along the lines of "wow I'm really going to pay more attention to season 2's animation". It was so heavy-handed.

I was sitting there watching the background of the comic-con scenes and I thought to myself, wow this is especially shitty it’s all the same people and no one is moving. Then that scene happens lol

Yeah it was super noticeable (intentional or not) because of the background people being cosplayers. Once I saw the 13th Doctor I was actively looking for other references but it was mostly the same people repeated.
