I don't even feel bad for Kate dying, not because she was a terrible person or anything but the fact that nowhere in her explanation of powers does it say she can't just make backups to leave around at places like Guardians HQ or anywhere else. It's like one of the basic uses of cloning as a superhero. Even Ben 10 was smart enough to keep an extra clone in the trunk of his car in case he died.

I think that's her limit, right? She can't make the Clones be that far away from the source. And we don't know if she can sustain a clone for that long. We've only seen her do it for a fight, or...ahem, sexual fling.

And according to the Wiki (which quoted the comics), once the original dies, all the clones die. They rely on the original Kate.

Even Ben 10 was smart enough to keep an extra clone in the trunk of his car in case he died.

To be fair? Ben went to fight Ultimate Kevin fully expecting to die, cuz he knew kevin had gone insane and wanted to be sure him self that a fight to the death would insue.

He even begs for his life before Kevin kills the last Echo Echo, and after Kevin leaves, we are shown Ben kept a spare in the trunk.

Kate could have just not expected it. Like they themselves pointed out last episode. Lizard league is normally a joke.

There is no reason to not always have a clone stacked away though

Also do her powers explicitly say that only the original Kate can make duplicates? Or could she train one to be able to do that while the original is in a bunker somewhere

I feel like we've totally seen duplicates make more, it's like her power is like fully simplistic yet there's minor details like these that are left unanswered or just very much in a gray area cause she's just a side character
