Rus is the unluckiest man alive

Dude got the Will Byers treatment.

Literally the same exact thing too: barfing up an entity relating to his prior capture, soon after his initial liberation, directly segueing into a later conflict

I knew a soon as he started getting sick what was about to happen.

u/ButIDigr3ss Mar 22 '24

Fr if he gets out of this alive, I honestly wouldn't blame him for hunting shapesmith down. Poor guy.

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '24

they honestly should've let the martians kill shapesmith. he's not a good person and does not deserve to be saved.

One plus is Rus never had a haircut as bad as Will Beyers.

12

u/FireZord25 Mar 22 '24

Let's hope next season Will does away with that yee yee ass haircut.

u/Quzga Mar 21 '24

Haha you're so right, he had that same look too where he just wants to go home and sleep in peace but shit keeps happening to him.

I think you mean, "directly sequiding into a later conflict."

2

u/thesagenibba Mar 22 '24

honestly not the biggest fan of this approach. showing the incredibly rough journey he has head, to rebuild his life, post a top 10 most traumatic experience ever, is much more interesting to me than return of the sequids, but one's on earth now... using the same guy as a host. it's just a bit played out

Same, the storyline for shapesmith, rus, and the sequids was good and had a fitting battle/conclusion. Not super interested in extending that any longer with so much more interesting stuff going on with the prominent characters.

Right? Is someone getting the Will treatment an absolute point in the Omniverse?

155

u/WR810 Mar 21 '24

All I could think about when he was re-squid'ed was "they don't let you sleep".

19

u/DoctorJJWho Mar 23 '24

Yeah the slow realization that not only was this man conscious of the horrors “he” was perpetrating, but he was also awake for something like 6 months straight. He is definitely insane in some way.

11

u/PowerOhene Mar 23 '24

Or he might have the strongest mental game/fortitude in the universe,

94

u/lannisterdwarf Mar 21 '24

How did he pass a medical screening lol they didn't even x-ray him?

63

u/Marrk Mar 22 '24

That's kinda suspicious. Especially since Cecil keeps a close eye on everyone nearly all the time.

Seeing as he's (almost definitely) the first human to ever be held captive on another planet for months, you'd expect them to at least have a couple of people to help him out after he got back lmao.

Cecil is running around like a chicken with his head cut off to try and manage stuff right now. Donald was the one who seemed like he was on scene for the situation and it’s been made pretty clear Donald is very much not operating at peak performance.

12

u/AshenSacrifice Mar 22 '24

Either its something else going on or they fucked up the writing pretty bad with that one

15

u/IWouldButImLazy GDA Troopers Mar 22 '24

I imagine it wasn't full grown in his stomach the whole time, rather it grew from a spore or egg or smth else lowkey

6

u/lannisterdwarf Mar 22 '24

that’s smart i like that explanation

5

u/Heyyy-ohhh Mar 22 '24

Maybe it was a larvae that grew inside of him

136

u/PedroVey Mar 21 '24

Once he got the nausea and ran to the sink, I knew he was getting corrupted by the sequids again and to be honest I was just annoyed. Like Jasmine Masters once said, "Oh Lord. Again? A-fucking-gain? Nothing new, nothing changed. Same old shit, same old fucking shit."

44

u/PT10 Mar 21 '24

Those are the most boring antagonists on the show, can't they just drop them altogether. I let out a loud sigh when that happened

12

u/thesagenibba Mar 22 '24

right? i'm aware of the glaring irony here but they are comic book villain evil. it's not interesting, charming, nor entertaining. anytime they're given the spotlight in a scene, i'm hoping it cuts to something else

1

u/dildodicks Invincidrip Apr 07 '24

they can't drop them because mark dealing with them is a huge part of his development

17

u/yhrp Mar 21 '24

Literally said “again!?”

10

u/Ok-Log-6244 Mar 22 '24

Like whyyyyy

9

u/Dookie_boy Mar 22 '24

I was annoyed because I was like they didn't take an xray or anything ?

2

u/Wolf6120 Cecil Stedman 15d ago edited 14d ago

Right?! I was thinking how the fuck did Cecil, with everything we know about him, not A) put this man through some sort of atomic level CT scan to look for precisely this sort of alien infection shit

or B) Keep him in containment for surveillance, at least for a month or two? Like, Cecil keeps dropping in to check on Debbie's alien baby, but he just lets this dude who spent months hosting an alien hive mind go home, on his own? Didn't even send anyone around to help clean up the mess made by the Martian whom Cecil knowingly let live there?

12

u/DankNiteRyder Mar 21 '24

Literally though damn he's got the most tragic arc so far

11

u/Emergency_Fig_6390 Mar 22 '24

Fuck does it suck to be him. Come home to a messy ass apartment then throw up a mind controlling squid!!

12

u/AvpTheMuse123 Mar 22 '24

What I don't understand is how tf did the sequid go completely undetected. Cecils team literally perform medical miracles on a weekly basis and clearly have v advanced tech.

Also how is he at home? This dude was on mars and taken over by a superstrong alien hivemind, how is he not under quarantine or at least constant supervision like what Cecil does with Marks mom

Also why did The Martians keep the sequids alive again? They are v technologically advanced, know how dangerous the sequids are, and also know extraterrestrial life exists which can be corrupted by the sequids. Then why would you not burn them all to a crisp or store them in a research facility or do something about em instead of having them loafing around

7

u/OCGamerboy Mar 21 '24

Ain’t that the truth

3

u/WiggityWatchinNews Mar 23 '24

I figured when he got grabbed by the sequid it was some PTSD thing, but no it seems like he really just had one chillin in his guts

3

u/demoguy0621 Mar 23 '24

Right, I was hoping he'd at least put up a fight this time. "Stupid squid!!!" squish
