I mean... I'm not surprised. The Mauler ego is what keeps them in check, and the fact that they're "disposable" as well. Like sure, the Maulers have killed each other previously multiple times- so of course they know it's a possibility. However it still never fails for one Mauler to kill the other.

He said it himself in S1, it only works if neither of them know who's the original, by design. "King" mauler should have known it would never work

They know they need to have the system in place but can’t help themselves to establish superiority and argue over it

It seems like it's a lesson they will relearn for the rest of their lives.

I wouldn’t be shocked if that was forever, once they start getting old they can just make a younger clone

I mean, everyone knows The One Ring can control your mind, but when it's right in front of you, you still end up picking it up

The ring kinda has a habit of deceiving people. It has a will, and it's will is stronger than yours. Even being near it will cause it to start swaying the weaker minds.

Too bad "King" Mauler is a freaking clone.

I thought it came off more like he knew the clone would eventually kill him to get things back to status quo, and wanted to enjoy the “superiority” while he had it

Their ego surpasses logic

Ol' Boy got a bit of the brain damage from that warehouse explosion, I'll bet.

The Maulers' whole deal is so interesting, they're less a person at this point and more an institution. Who knows how many Maulers they've cycled through at this point, but a Mauler will always remain.

Like some kind of organism the reproduces asexually.
