Yes, but this way it couldn't be argued that Mark physically couldn't do it. It adds an extra dynamic, and real life feelings, that Mark could have fought her off if he really wanted to, but just didnt.
I always took the undertone to be that Mark was not a killer, and that made him hold back. The only way to stop a Viltrumite is ti be willing to use any and all force available. And Mark couldn't do that...yet.
Fair, but I can rationalize it in that he wasn't in a good headspace at the moment. His pregnant girlfriend had just dumped him after he was stranded in another dimension by someone he thought was a friend/ally.
Yep it's a bit of that, bit of the Eve stuff and then also just the actual attack on him he's so conflicted.
We see not long after how easily Nolan had a hold of her, sure she's still one of the higher end but the jump to Mark / Nolan is big especially considering like I said Mark had already faced Conquest a bunch who's above those two again.
Yeah, but he beat Conquest by being more invested, as Omniman said. He wanted to KILL conquest, while the latter was still mucking around a bit. Like, nothing about either of those fights does Invincible seem physically stronger than Conquest.
I think it's fair to say that at this point, Anissa is still a fair bit stronger than Mark, and he wasn't going to get her off without going for the throat (literally and figuratively). And as much as he didn't want it to happen, he wasn't going to go that far, on this instance
I mean he did but he didn’t really win in a fight. He kept conquest from breathing and that’s how he won. Marks gotten stronger but experience as a fighter still matters
It’s a small time frame that it works though. You can’t do it the first time she shows up cause she won’t have any real reason to do it at that point in the story though it would make an interesting season finale. I think they just need to set her up as one of the stronger Viltrim which should be easy enough.

The timing of this scene was bizarre. Mark had been established as strong enough to fight her off at that point.
