Kirkman just loves torturing his protagonists.

Did Kirkman ever write for Spider-Man?

Kind of. He wrote a crossover issue for Invincible and Spider-Man and a few other times in Marvel Team-Up. He never had a major book though.

He said that he loves spider-man but no longer has a desire to write him. Having gotten that out of his system.

No, but Spider-man came anyways because he is the incarnation of miserable writing

Ironically, Ryan Ottley drew Spidey's happiest moments in ages last run.

He also drew spidey kicking Carnage/norman's fucking ass back and forth, which felt pretty good.

Red goblin has to be peak of modern spidey. The whole team cant do shit, literally all spider people ganged up on norman and couldnt even make him try. And then peter beats him solo, with venom and flash as support players.

He wrote all 25 issues of Marvel Team-up Volume 3, of which Spider-man appeared in at least 15. That's how the crossover with Invincible in Marvel Team-up #14 came about. It may not have been a solo Spider-man book, but Spidey was certainly a major character through his run.

Yeah the bleakness of Invincible doesn’t hold a candle to the bleakness of The Walking Dead. That comic series goes to some really dark places that make the tv adaptation look like sunshine and rainbows.

Man was born to write Daredevil
