I have decent health care in the US and there was still an eight month waitlist for getting a primary doctor

Wow, that's terrible. I'm for single payer, but with my HMO I can see a doctor same day for urgent and maybe wait two months for an MRI or specialty visit. Most appointments I make are just a couple of weeks.
