I work for a major US hospital. My health insurance is $1200/month for my family- of which I pay about half. My spouse just had a tube of blood drawn, and we had to pay $132 OUT OF POCKET. Apparently, I need to meet an $8000 deductible before things like diagnostic testing is actually covered by my insurance.

And I work for a major medical company that runs like 15 hospitals and my insurance for single is 140 bucks a month including dental and life. I paid 20 bucks for some medicine and nothing for my actual doctors visit. Your insurance is just trash.

You pay $1200 for insurance and didn’t read what is/is not covered before meeting the deductible? You pay that much for that high of a deductible?

You work for a major hospital and don't understand the concept of a deductible? $132 for full blood work and analysis also isn't an insane cost. Paying $7200/year to have health insurance for your entire family is not nearly as extreme as you think it is. Assuming you're a family of 4 or more capping your annual healthcare spend at $15k in a single year including even the most intensive health issues is very reasonable. If you compare countries with government paid healthcare, their income taxes are significantly higher than in the US. So as long as you're making more than 60k/year the financials in your situation are more beneficial than a universal/single payer system.

I understand how deductibles work. That doesn’t mean I love paying one, especially considering I’m already paying so much per month.

Either this is fake, or you shouldn't be working in a hospital with that low of IQ.
