The switch is $300-350 depending on the model. The base Steamdeck 256gb model is $399... You don't need the OLED Steamdeck. You're not spending significantly more on the deck compared to the switch.

You can play a lot more than just fallout. Thats actually why i bought a steam deck, replay all the fallouts and the classics, but i can play a bunch of other games and they’re dirt cheap on sale.
Don’t regret the decision at all, only regret not doing it sooner.

That’s why I play console is I don’t have to deal with all the software and downloading drivers and downloading patches and mods and yadda yadda. I just turn my console on and it does all everything for me. Plus consoles will last decades. Pc’s turn to garbage in 10 years. My pc that I used to game on is not even 10 years old and I can hardly use word on it.

Well games patch on console the same as PC. FO3 and NV still play fine on PC in vanilla, but mods improve overall QOL and nice fixes, since even on console both games were somewhat prone to crashing, NV especially.
Thats a partially true statement. Your 10 year old PC wont play modern games, but neither will a 10 year old console. But tech requires upkeep, just like your car or anything else. Trying to install modern software like windows 11 on an aging PC wont be great. But that also might simply be a case of an old hard drive or crowded storage. I understand what you mean of course, consoles are generally easier but Ive had more than a couple 360s die on me and a gen1 ps4 die from an overused HDD. Consoles absolutely do have a shelf life. Thats why modding, replacing hard drives and repair shops for them still exist. Tech is tech, a console is functionally just a computer running a specific OS for one purpose.

From my understand NV and FO3 are a bit more prone the crashing on modern hardware. But then again, they were on the 360 too so its PROBABLY fine. But stability and QoL is nice.

I really want remasters of all the fallout games, 3 would be great, NV would be fantastic, but I also really want old gems 1 & 2 remastered as well, hopefully they will be done with care and love, like C&C remaster which was fantastic, or Grim Fandango remaster. Even involve the original people like Tim Cain in the process

Unfortunately for the classics, they simply can't do that. The source code was lost decades ago when the original publisher went under, and without that they simply can't make big enough changes to remaster them. They would need to remake it from the ground up.

First of all im pretty du re they found the source code. Secondly its not impossible to rebuild a game from the ground up. obviously its much more work but we have the technology that something like fallout 1 can quite easily be rebuild. it just takes time and needs people who give a shit.

The Spyro remaster was a ground up rebuild in a new engine and it’s the best remaster I’ve ever played. Definitely worth doing.

Tbh i would love a full remake of the original games, as much as i want to play them they are just so clunky i cant. keep everything the same just remake with more modern graphics and gameplay. personally i think a top down shooter would work well instead of the more traditional turnbased CRPG gameplay but thats my opinion

I support a remaster rather than a complete graphical overhaul, I really enjoy the isometric play with those clunky systems, they might improve them, improve the UI and accessibility of some features, but I really want the original feel of the game. It was a game I played during my childhood, so I am too in love with both of those games.

I'd like it to get a similar treatment to the Super Mario RPG remake. Completely reworked graphics while still being isometric, tweaks and QOL improvements to gameplay but keeping it turn-based and not completely reinventing it.

I'm still in DC, but installed a mod that takes all your gear and puts it in a chest within Benny's casino. Also resets your level, but gives you a 50% xp boost.

I'm currently doing another playthrough of fallout 4, since I never played with all of the DLCs, but have 3 and NV downloaded with all the DLC to do just this. I never played through 3 because I couldn't live without ADS, so TTW sounds perfect.

If the leaks are true from last year we will be getting Fallout 3 and Oblivion.
Todd also kind of refrenced two projects he couldnt talk about in an interview the other day. Im thinking one may be Fallout 3 and the other Oblivion. Both which where "leaked" during the activision aquisition trial.

I was/am getting about five hours of battery life with graphics set to high and fps capped at 60. Never saw it drop below 50. If you set the graphics to ultra you get about four to four and a half hours. I never stopped playing because the battery was about to die.

They don’t wanna fix the bugs. They just dropped the fallout 4 update so I booted up again and did the mechanicus quest line cause I never did it. Tell me why I encountered a bug and when I looked up a solution the post discussing the bug was 7 years later and there was no fix if you’re on survival difficulty (which I am). They didn’t fix a bug that was over 7 years old in a game that just got an update they don’t wanna fix these spaghetti code games

It can. just because some devs are incapable doesn't mean its he switches fault. Skyrim runs with 30 fps so fallout 3 and nv can easily run with 60 fps except nintendo will limit them to 30fps because 60fps will make the switch 2 degrees warmer.

Because it’s a 360 game. The switch is usually pretty good at running ports of games from that gen.
Granted, it’s a Bethesda game, so it’ll still be a buggy mess with bad performance.

Games that people have gotten running on older, worse spec'd PC's. Yet they can't get them over (or don't care enough to) to a glorified gaming tablet?
I've been salty about this for years. This just dredged up that memory.

I want a remake and a remaster of 2. Give the old iso heads a good less janky game that keeps the art style.
At the same time, I REALLY wanna see frank horrigan, vault city, shady sands, and lost hills in 3d. It'll never happen but it'd be dope.
Other than that, 3 and new Vegas in 4s engine. I know modders are working all 3 but that's not gonna release for a decade at least. Also the nv team seems dead.
