The highlights don’t show his glaring weaknesses, but they show what we’re talking about when we say he has potential. He’s the ultimate boom or bust pick of this draft. I’m excited to see how it goes

As someone who heard his name hours before I started playing games w/ friends, I'm ignorant. What are is glaring weaknesses?

Honestly a lot. The shot is super inconsistent, the handle is not there, and despite the big frame he does not get blocks. He looks lost out there a lot.

HOWEVER, he’ll have flashes where he can hit deep threes, and he has big defensive upside. His motor is very high too

He’s not there yet, and he’s got big issues, but he’s 18 playing professional basketball with lots of potential and he’s a fast learner. He improved throughout the season, I’m excited to see if he’ll continue to do so here in Charlotte

what 18 year old at 6’9 has a consistent shot? that’s not what it’s about; he has good form potential and a quick release. ball handling? let’s face it, he’s not there to dribble. They will keep it simple with him: set screens, roll a bit, maybe pop back for a 3 but he ain’t gonna be putting the ball on the floor. blocks? yeah that may be good or may be shit. all in all, does he have the intangibles? a motor ain’t shit without talent and he’s obviously talented. It’ll be up to him how good he can be.

His form needs some tweaking to be considered good but the high motor almost always includes a hunger to get better so if you're gonna swing then swing on the player who has the talent like you said and actually wants to get better along with having the drive to do whatever it takes.

His foot positioning is really odd for a right handed shooter yet he still makes a good clip with cleaning up he could be really consistent

I know it's a highlight reel, but this sub would still take Kai Jones back if they could and this dude looks 100 times more competent than him. Jones could only be at the right spot by accident. Is this guy better than that?

Jones was kind of the other way around where he had a handle but had no jumper.

Concerning, but also exciting. Any flashes of instinct on the defensive side on tape or is it mostly pure hustle?

7

u/a_moniker 8d ago

Mostly hustle, but he improved his overall game pretty rapidly over the course of the season

Working with Grant should help his game a lot as well

Agreee with everything you said however I’ll be excited to continue to see his development via Swarm. Very likely he doesn’t see NBA this season unless checks notes injuries

Well then they wouldn’t be highlights, right? They’d just be lights.

we got our giannis

1

u/NotManyBuses 8d ago

Giannis was much better at the fundamentals

2

u/DanimalsAndChill 7d ago

Do you not consider shooting a fundamental?

0

u/NotManyBuses 7d ago

I consider every aspect of playing basketball

1

u/fleshyspacesuit 7d ago

Hast thou considered the tetrapod?

I think highlights from single game performances are probably better for getting an idea of a player's game. Even better are actual full game replays. Here's one from one of his best playoff performances: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWDKMSOVqEo

Best player in this draft.

2

u/hindsight5050 8d ago

Will he be playing in the Olympics this summer?

u/Swag_Turtle 8d ago

We’re tanking for Cooper Flagg I see

u/frippmemo 7d ago

I like this.

u/Dentist_Rodman 7d ago

definitely a project and prob won’t make any impact his first year. I see him being in greensboro the majority of the year but he has the tools to be a great player so i’m excited to see his development

1

u/Dense704 7d ago

One of these Frenchmen from the draft gotta be good please be this one

1

u/argumentative_one 7d ago

Is he going to come over to USA this year or when?

1

u/stonerslug47 7d ago

All I see is light skin Kai Jones. Hoping he proves me wrong

10

u/DanimalsAndChill 8d ago

You don’t know shit about basketball lmao

-8

u/SESe7en 8d ago

Sorry fam but you’re wrong on that assumption but at this point I don’t care to argue about Salaun anymore. Hopes to him proving me wrong

1

u/Arturo274 8d ago

Kai Jones had potential but he was an idiot.

u/LaMeloxMilesxScoot 8d ago

Disgusting draft choice but if this helps us get a top 5 pick next year then I’m fine with it

27

u/2wacky2backy 8d ago

You have scoot in your sig, lol

-5

u/Booty_Snuggler 8d ago

Next years draft is just as trash. 2026 is the draft we want to be top 5 in

9

u/Dentist_Rodman 8d ago

cooper flagg and ace bailey alone make next years draft 10x better

3

u/butekoo 8d ago

No, next year draft is amazing compared to this one LOL
