I’m a fan of Leaky… he has good size and is a strong defender. If he had a reliable 3 point shot he would have been drafted as a 3 and D. Throwing a 2-way to see if that 3 point shot can develop is a great chance to take.

i want him to succeed so much, but they waited like 5 years at carolina for him to figure that out and it really just never materialized. i hope he figures it out though he’s got such great size and is a terrific defender

Im a big unc fan as well and i think our team hasnt properly developed someone in years. Even like Cam Johnsons improvements were mainly just his religious family getting far enough away from him that he could use modern medicine to fix his hips.

Its never been written anywhere but i have a close source to the basketball team and he basically told me that Cam had hyper religous parents and they didnt want him to have hip surgery and then when he did he got so much athleticism back.

He actually developed quite a bit in this regard over his UNC career. He went from a low 20s guy to a 33% guy in his last 2 seasons despite increasing his volume substantially. Last year he was our 2nd best 3p% among players that saw real PT. It's still not a strength but he's shown clear signs of improvement and is no longer a player who defenses should just refuse to guard beyond the arc.

yeah i mean there’s potential there but just not reliable consistency. you can cheat off him behind the arc other than the corners, and even then it’s not a great percentage. he needs a little more arc on the ball and to speed his mechanics up. i think he’s worth a flier for sure.

He absolutely shut down Brandon Miller.

If nothing else, Miller will be forced to improve by simply going against Leaky every day in practice.

In my completely non-biased UNC fan opinion he is the greatest to ever do it and this is a turning point in our franchise. Really tho he’s a great leader, defender, and teammate. Why not?

Theo had far better playmaking and at least a semi-functional offensive game, plus is like an S tier locker room guy, but you're not totally wrong.

Leaky is less Theo 2.0 and more Theo: The Sequel in the sense that sequels are often worse than the original lol

i mean Theo, Leaky, and even JP Tokoto are all comparable players, i never said Leaky was better than Theo tho. they're all athletic wings who can't shoot and are solid defenders. Tokoto had an insane dunk package, Theo was clearly the best playmaker, and Leaky might be the most talented defender with such a long wingspan
